Not so long ago, a new human being was appointed to head up the Catholic Church. That’s a very big job for anyone, especially when there’s a flock of a billion+ humans waiting to hear what you have to say. (It must be one heck of a big perch that they’re all sitting on!) And, during his first address, Pope Leo XlV talked about peace. In fact, he used the term ‘peace’ on nine different occasions. Yes, so many humans crave for peace more than anything else. Because all too often, life can appear to be an endless cycle of threats and menace, and of trouble and strife. So how can humans ever hope to find real peace here on Earth?

Well, our world will continue to be an imperfect place, and there will always be some humans that spoil things for others. True peace on Earth will never be about the absence of the storms of life; instead, as the winds rage on around us, it’s about a personal transformation that allows us to find genuine peace at the heart of each storm that comes our way. And that all hinges on one simple thing; -our relationship with God and Jesus. Yes, it’s all about us having faith, trust, hope and the conviction that both God and Jesus exist; that they care for us all, and that they will eventually deliver us from the troubles of this world. It’s only when we invite them inside us, that we become truly insulated against the storms of life; for it’s only then that we can sense the promise of what is to come and see through the tumult of the storms that envelop us. Jesus was, is and will continue to be the ‘Prince of Peace’ for every single one of us. Humans and parrots alike! Because the deepest peace of all comes from knowing that Jesus is our Saviour.

“Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.”

(Martin Luther King Jnr)

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

(John 14: 27)

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with you all.”

(2 Thessalonians 3: 16)
