Most humans expect me to fly when I want to get from ‘A’ to ‘B.’ And quite often, that’s exactly what I do; yes, I enjoy a spot of full-on zippy flying around the house, and I enjoy it even more when the humans duck as I part their hair. Yes, I can be just like a small, green feathered rocket.

But there are also times when I like to go for a jolly good ‘parrot walkabout.’ I’ve been blessed with rather large feet which are great for stomping my way across a floor. And I’ve developed a range of different walking styles, depending upon my mood. For example, I’ll sometimes walk in a straight line, banging my head up and down, just like a cockatoo. Or I may decide to do ‘the parrot furrow trick,’ when I tilt my head down and propel my beak across the floor in a long straight line. But my favourite walk is when I march across the floor flailing my beak from side to side as I go.

Yes, I like to be a very active bundle of feathers, I don’t believe in staying still for too long, unless I’m having a well-deserved roost. We’re all on this thing called ‘The Journey of Life,’ and we’ve all got an end destination to reach. And so, whenever I’m going anywhere, I try to make sure that God and Jesus are there alongside me. That way, I’ll end up heading in the right direction, and my journey won’t have been wasted. Even when I’m strutting my stuff across the kitchen floor. We all need to try to walk with God and Jesus on a daily basis to avoid the hazards and pitfalls of this world; and then, in the end, we’ll all turn up where we want to be! Because if you always walk towards the light, the shadows of life will fall behind you.

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

(Martin Luther King Jnr.: [1929 – 1968]: American Baptist Minister and civil rights campaigner who was assassinated by a white supremacist).

“Smart men walked on the moon, daring men walked on the ocean floor, but wise men walk with God.”                                                                           (Leonard Ravenhill: [1907 – 1994]: British Christian evangelist).

“Those who walk with God always reach their destination.”                            (Henry Ford: [1863 – 1947]: American industrialist and business magnate who founded the Ford Motor Company).

“….He will teach us his ways                                                                    so that we walk in his paths.”                                                                      (Isaiah 2: 3b)
