Here in the UK, humans have been getting very excited because it’s political party conference season. And that’s when loads of them flock together and make lots of noise about flawed ideas and even-more-flawed political leaders. I’ll never understand why, but they choose to sit in stuffy arenas for hours on end, listening to boring speeches in which a bunch of bullish humans attempt to impose their own personal agendas over the wider population. Hmm.
Fortunately, we parrots don’t indulge in such daft activities, but if we did, -and if I was a rising star in ‘The Parrot Party’ ranks, -I wonder what my policies would be? Well, I’d definitely tax things that I don’t like. So, I’d slap a sizeable tariff on beards, tattoos, cobwebs and blow flies. And I’d probably slap an even bigger tax on human politicians, because all of the hot air, that they’re forever blowing out, only increases global warming!
There’s a very simple problem with human politics; politicians and party members are constrained by a lack of vision and understanding. That’s because they look at everything from an entirely human point-of-view. There’s rarely any place for God inside these conference venues. And where God’s missing, humans will always come up short; they’re still to learn that all important lesson that everything in life needs to be on God’s terms rather than their own personal ones……
This is also the time of year when humans traditionally gather in their crops. It’s harvest time. And too many of them fail to realise that they are nothing more than tenant farmers working God’s land. And because life is short, everyone is on a short-term contract. Not enough humans recognise their true status in creation, and they try to grab everything that they can, -while they can, -in the belief that this world is all there is. For them, death is finite rather than the gateway into eternal life. And here we have the biggest problem of all, underpinning human existence. Yes, - humans still have to learn their real status in creation…….

(Mark Twain: [1835-1910]: American writer and humourist).
“Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it’s just the opposite.” (John Kenneth Galbraith: [1908-2006]: Canadian-American economist, diplomat and author).
“I long for the day when the precepts of the Christian religion shall be the rule among the classes of men, in all transactions! I often hear it said, ‘Do not bring religion into politics.’ This is precisely where it ought to be brought……” (Charles H. Spurgeon: [1834-1892]: English Baptist preacher, still referred to today as ‘The Prince of Preachers”).
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
